PVC in the news!
Our Wythall Birmingham Vet clinic has made it into the papers again! This week’s Redditch Standard has run a story about our clinic – and about the importance of microchipping your pets! Here’s the story…
Pets Reunited
If there’s one person who can tell you about the importance of having a pet microchipped, it’s Sam Walsh, an Animal Nursing Assistant at the Pet Vaccination Clinic on the Alcester Road. Last month her cat Tigger walked out into her Redditch garden and then vanished. “He was missing for over 2 weeks” said Sam “ I was absolutely distraught, as I couldn’t stop worrying that he’d been stolen or run over, but the worst thing was thinking I might never know, because I’d never had him chipped. Working at the Pet Vaccination Clinic we see lots of cats who have been involved in road traffic accidents and it can be a real tragedy to see unidentified family pets critically injured with no way of tracing the owners who love care for them.”
Sam called around the other local veterinary practices and cat rescue centres with no success. Amazingly after over two weeks Tigger reappeared at the kitchen door looking a bit thinner but otherwise okay. “As soon as he turned up I was so happy” said Sam “But as a veterinary worker I realised just how lucky I was that Tigger came back of his own accord – so the first thing I did was to take Tigger into work and have him microchipped right away. Microchipping gives me peace of mind that it’ll be much easier to trace him should he be lost or involved in an accident, because his details are kept on a central database that all vets and rescue centres can access. Protecting Tigger with a microchip has given me real peace of mind and I recommend to all our clients that they get their pets microchipped too.”
